At 93,500 tons, carrying 2,400 passengers and 1,000 crewmembers, the Pride of Hawaii (POH) is one the largest U.S.-flagged cruise ships ever built. She has joined her sister ships – Pride of Aloha and Pride of America – in their Honolulu home base to sail seven-day Hawaiian Island tours. This armada – owned by Norwegian Cruise Line – make-up the very best Hawaiian cruise ship available.

We’ve done the research and the legwork and have created our own Pride of Hawaii review. After reading this cruise ship review, we’re convinced you’ll soon share our unbridled enthusiasm for this amazing Hawaii cruise vessel.

Inside the Pride of Hawaii

A major difference between the Pride of Hawaii and its sister Hawaiian cruise ships is décor. Whereas the Pride of America boasts a patriotic theme, and the Pride of Aloha provides a tropical setting, this cruise ship has a South Pacific atmosphere in the corridors and staterooms, as well as a modern, serene elegance in several other public rooms.

The Waikiki Beach area is the most popular daytime spot with two swimming pools – one with an awesome water slide, four whirlpools, and many areas to bask in the sun or seek refuge in the shade.

Like other Hawaii cruise ships, this liner has a health spa. The Japanese-themed Ying & Yang Health Spa and Beauty Salon offers a wonderful mix of Eastern and Western beauty and massage therapies. Amenities include relaxation rooms with expansive sea views, a hydrotherapy pool, a plunge pool, aromatic steam rooms, a sauna, and heated chaise lounges.

This Hawaii cruise liner offers a wide variety of cabins, including inside standard rooms, suites with balconies, and deluxe villas with dedicated concierge services. All rooms have rich cherry wood furnishings, a television, a safe, a refrigerator, a duvet, and a bathroom with separate toilet and shower/tub areas.

Passengers wanting more privacy, square footage, amenities may opt for a courtyard villa. Each – containing two bedrooms and living area – has a butler, a plunge pool, a hot tub, private sun deck, treadmill and Stairmaster.

And those lucrative jobs or well-endowed trust funds can reside in a 5,000-square- foot Garden Villa Suites featuring: three bedrooms; three baths; a private roof terrace; a living room with a grand piano; a private garden; and hot tub.

In our opinion what makes the NLC sisters the best Hawaiian cruise ships out there is the freedom to select when, where and how to dine aka. “Freestyle Cruising.” Passengers can choose from10 different restaurants including an informal buffet at the Aloha Nui Lanai café, Papa’s Italian Kitchen, and Cagney’s Steakhouse. You may enjoy a glass of wine in Le Bistro one night, and a cup of sake with a bite of sushi in Jasmine Garden the next.

The only downside of our Hawaii cruise ship review is that the ship has so much to offer that passengers might not want to disembark long enough to enjoy Maui, Kauai, and the other tropical islands. This is the liner with the best Hawaii cruise ship conviviality.
